30 Years in the Making
Gartho Logistics was founded on Feb 17, 2017, by yours truly, Garry Thomas, a Veteran Trucker of 30 years. My trucking career ended in Oct 2016 due to an injury that I had sustained while on the road. At the age of 59, I had to figure out what I was going to do with the rest of my life. I started looking at the only 2 things I knew anything about, transportation, and my love for vintage automobiles. Should I open a shop and start bringing these old vehicles back to life or, do I get a freight brokers license, and start brokering freight?
I brokered freight for a little bit, but it just wasn’t giving me what I needed, not money you understand, but satisfaction, I needed something else, I needed to have something in common with the people I was offering my service to. Yea sure, my freight customers and I had the transportation industry in common, but that wasn’t enough. I needed customers that I could relate to, on a personal level, and have something in common with. It’s not about the money for me, don’t get me wrong, I need to make a living, but I think I can do that and offer my services at a fair rate and get the satisfaction I’m looking for.
I was on my way down to grab a 78 F-150 for some therapy, when a “parking lot”, that’s an auto transporter btw, passed me going the other direction. It was loaded up with some of the most beautiful vintage pickups that I had ever seen. I’m a Ford guy, but this guy had all make on there, and through this enthusiast’s eyes, they were absolutely stunning. I thought, what are those beautiful pickups doing on an open trailer, I would have enclosed them, anyway…I knew at that moment what I wanted to do. So here I am.
When you hire my services, It’s all on me at that point. You can go about your day, and rest easy at night. because your ride is in the best hands possible. I will handle all arrangements, you just tell me what you need. Your ride will be picked up and delivered door to door in a safe and timely manner.
